What is the difference between Botox® and Xeomin®?
BOTOX®
BOTOX® is manufactured by Allergan.
Botox® is a muscle relaxer. Botox® is used to reduce frown lines between the eyebrows and forehead by weakening the muscles. Botox® is injected underneath skin in order to minimize or smooth out lines and wrinkles on the face.
Botox® paralyzes or relaxes facial muscles resulting in a smooth facial appearance. It is temporary and last up to 6 months.
Xeomin®
Xeomin is manufactured by Merz Pharmaceuticals.
Xeomin® has been approved in Europe since 2005. Xeomin® is currently marketed in 20 countries. Xeomin also works by paralyzing wrinkles. Xeomin is naked which meand that there are no additive, just botulinum toxin type A. This may lessen a patient’s likelihood of developing antibodies
It takes about one week for the full effects of Xeomin injections to be realized. The results last from 3-6 months.
