Frequently Asked Questions
Where Does It Work?
Everyone’s skin ages differently and JUVÉDERM may be used to rejuvenate multiple problem areas. From smile lines to vertical lip lines, you can smooth away unwanted wrinkles and restore natural contours.
Are aesthetic injectable products such as JUVEDERM dermal fillers safe?
JUVEDERM dermal fillers are approved by the US. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), meaning that clinical data on their safety and effectiveness were reviewed by the FDA prior to approval.
How long do aesthetic injectable treatments last?
JUVEDERM dermal fillers are temporary. BOTOX Cosmetic effects can last up to four months, while JUVEDERM dermal fillers deliver sustained results for up to six months or longer.
Are injectable treatments such as BOTOX Cosmetic and JUVEDERM painful?
Injections may cause some discomfort during and after injection. Talk with Dr. Wilcox about pain-reducing options, such as a numbing cream, which can be applied prior to your injection.
Is there scarring?
No reports of scarring were documented in clinical studies evaluating treatment with JUVEDERM dermal fillers. Additionally, studies with JUVEDERM demonstrated no increased risk of hyperpigmentation in patients of color.
How long do aesthetic injectable procedures take?
Many procedures can be performed quickly and require minimal down-time. Following a facial analysis by Dr. Wilcox or Dr. Karanzalis, JUVEDERM dermal fillers require only a brief in-office visit and take an average of 15 minutes to perform.
Do aesthetic injectable procedures cause bruising or other side effects?
Some patients have reported minimal bruising around the injection site area. In clinical trials for JUVEDERM dermal fillers, most side effects were mild to moderate in nature, and lasted 7 days or less. The most common side effects include, but are not limited to, temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. Also, all dermal fillers can be accidentally injected into a blood vessel, which may block the blood vessel and cause breakdown of potentially large areas of distant skin which may lead to permanent scarring, and/or a heart attack, stroke or blindness.
Do treatment results differ?
Yes, individual results may vary. To get the best results, it’s important to go to a doctor who is experienced in administering BOTOX Cosmetic. Dr. Donna Wilcox and Dr. Demetri Karanzalis are two of the most skilled and caring physicians in the South Jersey area. Our Physicians perform many cosmetic injectable procedures.
