Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP is quickly becoming one of the top treatments for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction. It is also being successfully used in conjunction with Micro-Needling to treat hair loss, remodel acne scars, and reduce the appearance of stretch marks.  Not only is it popular, it’s highly effective!

What is PRP?

PRP is your body’s own platelet rich plasma.  These platelets, when injected under the skin, cause a cascade of wonderful collagen and elastin producing actions that give you a more vibrant youthful appearance.  And the best part is it’s all natural!  Platelet Rich Plasma is made from your own cells, virtually eliminating the possibility of negative side effects.

How is a PRP Treatment Done?

First, a small amount of a patient’s blood is drawn into a sterile tube by one of our physicians.  The tube is placed in a special centrifuge that spins and separates the bloods components into red blood cells, white blood cells and platelet rich plasma. While your Platelet Rich Plasma is being “spun”, your skin will be gently cleansed and prepared for the treatment. The Platelet Rich Plasma is then injected into the skin, or used in conjunction with Micro-Needling to deliver unsurpassed, non surgical facial rejuvenation, scar revision or hair restoration.

Does PRP Hurt?

For overall facial rejuvenation, the injections take just a few moments, and are only mildly uncomfortable.  The procedure is quick (15 minutes total), relatively painless, and requires no post procedure care or time off from daily events.  You may experience some mild swelling, redness, or bruising in the injection site that will fade within 1-3 days.

Platelet Rich Plasma activates your body’s own growth factors to stimulate fresh collagen and elastin fibers to network beneath the skin for total facial rejuvenation rather than targeted individual wrinkle improvement. Platelet Rich Plasma PRP is used for volumizing faces that are beginning to look drawn by  plumping cheek indentations, firming the skin tone and improving skin texture. The Platelet Rich Plasma advantage lies in it’s ability to be used in areas where other popular dermal fillers cannot reach or are not safe to use.

Rest assured, all of our dermal fillers can be used in conjunction with Platelet Rich Plasma and each has their place and purpose. For example, Restylane and Juvederm fill specific lines and folds where as Platelet Rich Plasma improves overall volume, fullness, and skin tone.  PRP acts to improve the overall quality, tightness, and texture of your skin and dermal fillers work on individual, deeper wrinkles.
