Titan Skin Tightening

Titan Skin Tightening utilizes a safe, infrared spectrum of light that is delivered to the dermis well below the skin’s outer surface. There is no down time, no external wounds to care for and no visible injury to the skin.  You can return to work right after the procedure.

Our physicians, Dr. Donna Wilcox and Dr. Demetri Karanzalis, see many patients that are not necessarily “ready for surgery” or do not want to have such an invasive procedure, with the aftercare and downtime associated with surgery. Some people want to delay any type of surgical intervention for as long as possible. The Titan offers an excellent option for anyone who desires tightening of lax or loose skin without the implications of surgical intervention.

Frequently Asked Questions

Titan Skin Tightening

How does the Titan Skin Tightening work?

The Titan laser works by having the laser’s light react with the water that lies deep within the layers of the skin (dermis). The energy released between the light and the water causes the water within the dermis to heat up. The elevation of the skin’s temperature is only to a certain temperature that is favorable for collagen contraction. This light generated heat causes immediate collagen contraction deep within the structure of the skin. During the procedure, the skin’s outermost surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan hand piece. The results of the procedure are cumulative, meaning over time, new collagen growth results in further tightening and the development of a more youthful complexion with fewer lines, folds and looseness of the skin.

The Titan Laser Difference: Titan employs light energy because it provides a more uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis than other energy sources, such as RF (radio frequency).

What areas respond best to the Titan Laser procedure?

Patients have been successfully treated on many areas on the body where skin is lax. Loose skin on the abdomen, back of the upper arm, along the jaw line and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure. The face is the most commonly treated area, especially for improvement of the jaw line and neck laxity. There is a limit to how much the Titan will correct. Severely aged skin with photo damage and extreme wrinkling, would not be considered candidates for the Titan laser procedure.

Who can be treated with the Titan Laser procedure?

Since the Titan procedure is heating tissue under the skin’s surface, patients of any skin type can be treated. Men and women of all ages have been successfully treated.  Age is not the most important factor in determining a successful outcome with Titan. It is the quality of the skin and the degree of skin laxity that are the critically determining factors when assessing the candidacy for a Titan laser lift.

Realistic expectations are important to maintain. People with subtle jowl and neck laxity respond the best to the Titan laser lift. Patients with extreme laxity or more demanding expectations are still better served by traditional means of plastic surgery and face lifting. Patients who have a great deal of fatty tissue can not expect to have the skin tighten in the neck or the back of the arms. Improvements in the abdominal area are also very exciting but must be tempered with the realization that stretch marks do not go away with this laser, or any other one for that matter.

How many treatments will I need with the Titan Laser procedure?

One to three treatments has produced very wonderful results for many patients. Our physicians, Dr. Donna Wilcox and Dr. Demetri Karanzalis, will advise you on the number and frequency of treatments recommended for you to achieve optimal results.

What happens after treatment with the Titan Laser procedure?

Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in treated area. Both should dissipate within a few hours.  Dr. Wilcox will review with you what to expect post treatment.

When will the results with the Titan Laser procedure be noticeable?

Some patients with minimal degrees of laxity in the face and neck will see results immediately. However, for most patients with more laxity, the results are gradual and cumulative.

What do treatments feel like with the Titan Laser procedure?

With each Titan pulse, you will feel a brief heating sensation. The Titan’s laser light is adjustable and during the first few pulses of light, the laser is adjusted to an energy level that is well tolerated.

Has the Titan Laser procedure been tested and approved?

The Titan has been carefully studied and approved for use worldwide.
